Description
The Joint Commission recently released updates to their Environment of Care and Human Resources standards EC.02.04.03 and HR.01.05.03. HR.01.05.03 creates new fluoroscopy standards requiring that the hospital verifies and documents that individuals (including physicians, non-physicians, and ancillary personnel) who use fluoroscopic equipment participate in ongoing education that includes annual training on the following:
- Safe procedures for the operation of the type of fluoroscopy equipment they will use
- Radiation dose optimization techniques and tools for pediatric and adult patients addressed in the Image Gently®, Image Gently-Step Lightly®, and Image Wisely® campaigns.
The course Annual Training for Individuals Who Use Fluoroscopic Equipment from FluoroSafety is approved for up to 2.0 hours of Category 1 CME, and designed to meet the requirement for ongoing education and annual training for individuals who use fluoroscopic equipment as outlined in Joint Commission Standard HR.01.05.03. This course also offers risk management CME and you may be eligible to claim MOC credit for many medical boards including ABIM, ABA, ABPMR, ABR, ABS and more. This course is updated annually.
